Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 5 years experience in providing environmental compliance oversight for all media in an industrial setting.
Position Purpose:
The Environmental Compliance Program Specialist ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental statutes and regulations for the Savannah location. Responsible for environmental data specification, collection, organization, analysis and reporting to internal and external groups.
Job Description
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Ensures local compliance with all federal, state and local environmental regulations promulgated under the Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Oil Pollution Act, (OPA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), and the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act .
- Maintains all data as required. by permits or regulations. Prepares and submits all CAA (e.g., NESHAP compliance notifications, emissions inventories, semiannual reports), EPCRA (e.g., SARA 311/312/313), RCRA (e.g., biennial reports, exception reports, waste minimization plans), CWA (operations monitoring reports), TSCA (export notifications, import certifications) reports for the Savannah facility. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and local UST/AST regulations, including release detection and reporting, tank tightness testing, financial assurance documentation.
- Performs technical analysis of environmental data to support corporate environmental metrics or agency (federal, state, local) reporting. Establishes procedures to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Assists corporate EHS staff in preparation and/or delivery of environmental training programs.
- Participates in corporate environmental audit program. Documents and tracks corrective action.
- Prepares and implements policies, procedures and or work instructions ensuring compliance with Gulfstream Environmental Management Policy and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationship with cognizant agencies, consultants, contractors, coworkers, peers and management.
Additional Functions:
- Coordinates collection of environmental data from other Gulfstream locations. .
Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Physical/chemical waste water treatment experience.
- MS Excel, Access.
